"la Mimosa" simply had to be named this way, as it is
neighbour to a tall and solid Mimosa tree, which in early spring
stands as a bright yellow fire in the midst of the olive grove.
The Mimosa tree, also known as the Persian Silk tree, is actually a
native of Australia, but introduced into Europe in the middle of the
18th century. The leaves are attractive; feathery and blue-green and
when it flowers in early spring, it has fragrant and exotic nectar
rich flowers, which look like strings of fluffy yellow balls.
In
1946, when the International Women's Day (8th of March) was
celebrated for the first time after the war, the soft and slightly
scented flowers of the Mimosa tree was chosen as a symbol. Since
then, on the 8th of March in all of Italy, women have been given a
bouquet of Mimosa flowers.
La Mimosa is a standalone house and formerly a stable. Until it was
restored in 2006, it has housed a lot of different farm animals,
even the horses right now at Villa Stabbia, when the weather turned bad.
The main entrance is into the living room, with its semi-round
windows and view over the fields. This used to be the pig-sty, but
has changed its look quite dramatically since.
The kitchen/dining area is unusually large with the dining area
right next to the fireplace, which it shares with the adjacent
living room. This is the part that used to be the stable.
The downstairs handicapped friendly bedroom (and bathroom) overlooks
the valley and has either a double bed or two single beds - all
depending on what is requested.
The upstairs bedroom with bathroom, with its windows facing in three
directions, has a wonderful view of the valley and the fields. It
has a double bed and it is easy to fit a cot for instance into the
room. This was the hay loft.
La Mimosa has its own open terrace facing the valley and the
swimming pool is about 20m away.
Surface Area: 100m2 - two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living Room, Kitchen with dining area, Fireplace

"Il
Corbezzolo" has it's name from the tree beside the veranda. It
is a humble bush, that normally grows wild in the Tuscan
countryside.
Towards early winter it is covered with small dark red fruits. These
look and taste so much like strawberries, that in English it is
often called the "strawberry tree".
Il Corbezzolo is on three levels - well almost. On the ground floor
is the living / dining-room with its centrally placed fireplace and
a fully equipped modern kitchen.
The doors open out to a large terrace overlooking the valley and our
lovely swimming-pool.
On the top floor the main bedroom and a bathroom is situated. From
every window there is a magnificent view over the fields, dressed
with fruit and olive trees.
When in the living-room and going down a few steps, there is a small
room with a secondary entrance, another bedroom and a
handicap-friendly bathroom. Like for all our bedrooms, the beds can
either be arranged as a double-bed or two singles. The room
downstairs is
actually quite large, and can easily fit 3 single beds should the
need be.
Il Corbezzolo has its own open terrace with a view of the swimming pool.
Surface Area: 100m2 - two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living Room together with kitchen and dining area, Fireplace

The orange is actually the most commonly grown tree fruit in the world and most likely dates as far back as 2500 BC. It is a hybrid, possibly between pomelo and mandarin. Both the orange and the mandarin trees are hard to beat for attractive foliage year-round, with a long season of bloom and colourful fruit. The white highly scented flowers attract many pollinating insects and the fruit is present much of the year since it takes many months to mature, but only takes on its characteristic orange colour when it during the winter months is nearly ripe.
The house l'Arancio is slightly larger than the other agriturismo houses and the latest to be renovated. Is is situated right next to the villa, ie separate from the other houses, but still less than 100m from the pool. The large entrance which is facing south is nicely hidden between two kumquat trees, oranges and mandarin trees. Hence the name.Surface Area: 120m2 - two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, dining area, kitchen and fireplace

"Quercia" is the Italian word for "oak" and with a large old oak right beside it, it was an obvious name. A common use of oak wood has always been to make barrels for storage of wine, cider, cognac, whisky, and other drinks. In old wine manufacturing large open oak vats were used for fermenting the wine. However this particular one has been planted for a very different reason - it offers its shade to most of the veranda outside the house.
La Quercia is on two levels. A nice cosy living-room with a
fully equipped modern kitchen and dining area occupies the lower
level. This part of la Quercia was previously the stable - though
looking at it now it is difficult to imagine cows and horses having
once sought shelter there.
Going up the old and worn stone staircase, two bedrooms and two
bathrooms are to be found. One bathroom has a bathtub, whereas the
other a shower.
Walking on the original cotto, one can imagine the many feet that
has passed along the corridor, as it undulates its way down towards
the large main bedroom. Here there is a double bed and more than
plenty of space for a cot or extra child bed.
The second bedroom has normally two single beds, though all our beds
can be hooked together to form a double bed or left as singles, all
depending on what is needed.
La Quercia is especially suited for families with smaller children,
as the two bedrooms are on the same level, and a gate can be fixed
at the top of the stairs to prevent the smaller family members from
attempting the stairs on their own.
Looking out the windows facing west is the colourful and flowery
garden of Villa Stabbia, whilst looking out the windows facing east,
there is the magnificent view over the valley, the fields and all
the majestic olive trees.
La Quercia shares the large terrace with Il Coppo, though has it's own
separate area.
Surface Area: 100m2 - two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room together with kitchen and dining area.

Coppo means "Vase" or clay pot and adjacent to "il Coppo" is indeed a large clay pot from the beginning of the 18th century. In line with the the tradition here in Tuscany in those days, this particular "Coppo" was used as a container for long-term storage of olive oil - today however it is ornamental and filled with flowers."
Il Coppo is on two levels and has always been lived in. It used
to house the families that once lived at Villa Stabbia and helped
with the fields.
On the ground floor there is a large living-room with a nice big
fireplace and going two steps up, a separate fully equipped modern
kitchen with dining area.
The top floor is composed of two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one
with a shower the other a bathtub. The main bedroom has a double bed
and space for a cot. From the windows it is possible to see
the pool and of course the fields filled with olive trees.
The second bedroom has normally two single beds, however all our
beds can be hooked together to double beds or left as two single
beds - all depending on the needs.
Il Coppo is especially suited for families with smaller children, as
the two bedrooms are on the same level, and a gate can be fixed at
the top of the stairs to prevent the smaller family members from
attempting the stairs on their own.

"il Viburno" is named after the many Viburno shrubs
surrounding it.
Viburno is a typical Mediterranean plant and very common in Tuscany.
The plant blooms with tiny slightly fragrant white flowers from
October to June, which both berries and flowers present on the plant
through the winter. The berries can be white, red or bluish-black. A
shrub that lightens up the autumn and winter garden with both leaf
colour and berries.
Il Viburno is the only house on one single level and it is
situated slightly away from the other houses, adjacent to the office
building - a few meters away from the swimming-pool.
It has two bedrooms each with their own bathroom and in the middle
the kitchen/dining/living area. Part of il Viburno was a former stable, where one still can still
see the many hooks in the beautiful arched ceiling. This has now
been converted to a bedroom and bathroom.
The other part of il Viburno was an old kitchen and in one corner,
an old "stove" still remains, with a small hole for the fire and
just enough room on top for a small pot.
Il Viburno especially suited for families with smaller children, as
it is on one single level.
Il Viburno has both a covered and an open terrace available, with the covered terrace overlooking the swimming pool and the valley.
Surface Area: 85m2 - two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living Room together with kitchen and dining area
