Villa Stabbia gets another Gran Menzione at SOL

The 2011 harvest can by no means be called optimum, where many producers even decided not to pick.
There had been a combination of bad weather for most of the late summer plus autumn with an exceptionally big amount of olive-flies. In addition quite a few trees had no olives at all.
Contrary to tradition (pick before the fly arrives), it was decided to pick slightly later than normal, as then the main attack of the flies would be over and the attacked olives would have dropped.
Although the yield would be even less, it was possible to obtain a good quality. In the end, even the quantity exceeded expectations - so on all accounts, not a bad decision.
The oil was sent to the SOL competition in Verona - and was awarded an honourary price or GRAN MENZIONE.
